01 - May Labour Day (Day 103)

Today was Labour Day and although it falls on a Sunday, there is no PH tomorrow. Anyway, I don’t like PH because it only means I would be staying back in my room. I would rather go to the office to meet my colleagues and also use the internet. I spent the morning trying to link my Visual C++ Net so that I can use the OpenGL libraries. In the end I failed of course. Just not knowledgeable enough to do it. Will try to find more info from the internet tomorrow. Then I deleted the San Guo Yan Yi Flash version. I decided to redo a nicer one. A better drawn one. But after making the first scene, I gave up again and went to cook lunch.

In the afternoon I watched “BraveHeart”. It was the 3rd time I had watched this film but it still touched me to tears. Especially the last part when Mel Gibson shouted “Freedom!”
And I loved the Celtic bagpipe music. There was a scene where Mel was riding with his wife up the hilly areas. Wah! I began imagining myself living in that kind of place. Greenery, mountains, blue sky. My favourite scene is the speech part, and I had the entire speech memorized.

Mel: Sons of Scotland. I am William Wallace.
Some peasants: But William Wallace is 7 feet tall.
Mel: Yes I heard. And if he were here, he will consume the English with fireballs and shoot lightning from his eyes. I AM William Wallace. And I see an army of my countrymen here in defiance of tyranny. What would you do without Freedom? Would you fight?
A peasant: Fight? Against that? No we will run. And we will live.
Mel: Aye, fight and you may die. Run, you’ll live… At least for awhile. And dying in your beds, many years from now. Would you be willing to trade, from this day to that, for one chance, JUST one chance, and come back to tell our enemy, that they may take our lives, but they will never take, OUR FREEDOM!

It was quite shiok to be watching such a great movie and eating Pringles and drinking coke at the same time. After that I went to call home. As the date of the end of my IA nears, I have lesser things to talk to my parents. Not that there is nothing new happening here. Everyday there is something new happening. But I just didn’t feel like telling them. All I want is to assure them that I am well and fine. After the call, I played the game Civilisation again. This is the dunno how many times I have played this game in my life. But I never get bored. Building the Wonders of the world, following the tech advancement, going into battles, etc. It was quite noisy outside as students are returning to INSA. Some of them were making some preparations for some events or carnivals. Hope that while busy preparing, they would catch a glance of my poster. Tomorrow I would have to send a few emails to friends from other project teams and beg for help. Also, I would have to ask another INSA friend to get his neighbours for the exp.
