28 March - Easter (Day 69)

I wanted to spend the entire day watching Lord of The Ring Trilogy. When I woke up, I saw there were quite a number of cars in the carpark and it didn’t seem like a public holiday to me. Then I went to the admin office and was glad that it was closed so as to confirm that today was a public holiday. Even if it wasn’t, I wouldn’t have the mood to go to work and would probably self-declare a day off for myself. Then I went to the multimedia centre and was surprised that it was open. I remember last Sunday it wasn’t. I started planning the itinerary for London. With 3 days in London, I find that I can actually visit quite a number of main attractions. For those who had been to London, perhaps you might want to give me some ideas here. The places that I had in mind are:

Buckingham Palace
London Eye
Madam Tussaud
London Bridge and Tower Bridge
Westminster Abbey
House of Parliament
British Museum
Tate Museum
Leicester Square
London Dungeon
Oxford Circus
Piccadilly Circus

But it seemed like some of the places are not open to public in June. Well, have to do more research on that. I went back to cook lunch at around 1pm. In the afternoon, I didn’t want to watch LOTR as I wouldn’t be able to complete the trilogy today. So I just pick the next VCD in my disc pouch and coincidentally it turned out to be Gospel of John and today was Easter. I am not a religious person but I just like the story about Jesus, for historical interest. I wonder if there are any guided tours for tourists to trace the path that Jesus had taken. Then again, perhaps Jerusalem might not be a safe place to go due to the Israel Palestinian conflict. In the show, for most of the time Jesus was saying “I am telling the truth!” and he must have said that at least 20 times. There were no actions, no bloody scene unlike Passion of Christ which I watched with another friend. But it wasn’t boring at all. The narration was well done and Jesus is very handsome in the movie. After watching disc one, I went back to the multimedia centre and continued planning for London trip.

After a while, I went back to make dinner and thereafter returned to the multimedia centre. Brother said on msn that there was a 8.9 scale earthquake again in Indonesia. I asked if there were any tsunamis and he said yet to be confirmed. The last disaster happened one day after Christmas, the day Jesus was born. This second one happened on Easter, the day Jesus rose from earth. I once read an article in ST when the last tsunami happened. The author asked this question which I asked myself countless of times: Is there God in this world? If yes, why then are such catastrophes happening on Earth? She gave 3 possibilities: 1. There is no God. 2. There is God and all those who died in the disasters deserved such punishments, even for those children. 3. There is God and all these sufferings have a much more profound meaning beyond comprehension of Man. She believed in option 3. For me, I keep my answer to myself.

After chatting awhile on the net and sort of finalized my London trip, I went back and watched the other half of Gospel of John. I was more curious of Mary Madeline (not sure if it is spelled correctly) who was also mentioned in Dan Brown’s Da Vinci’s Code (speaking of this book, Gary you have to return to me when I get back to SG). But from the movie, there was no sign of her being the lover of Jesus. I wonder why isn’t there a great movie on Buddhism? I am sure with the current technology of animation, we can have very interesting movie on life of Buddha. Every religion in the world has many colorful stories of its own and I think when I go back SG, I would start researching about them from the library.
